Asian Recipes - Almond Curd Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water

  • 4 tsp powdered agar-agar or 1 cup soaked and strained agar-agar strands

  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk

  • 2 tsp almond essence

Serves 4


Method:

  1. Put water into a saucepan, sprinkle agar-agar over and bring to the boil. Boil and stir until agar-agar is dissolved. (Powdered agar takes only a couple of minutes to dissolve, strands take longer).

  2. Add condensed milk and almond essence and stir well. Pour into a large shallow glass dish or a large cake tin. Let to cool and set, then chill.

  3. Cut into cubes or diamond shapes and serve by itself or with canned fruits, melon balls or other fresh fruits, like lychees.

  4. Alternately, pour the sauce straight into an attractive dish and on mould just before serving.
