Asian Poultry Recipes - Malaysian Hot and Sour Chicken, Penang Style Recipe
Ingredients

4 Tbs. vegetable
oil
-
3 medium onions,
finely chopped
-
2 garlic cloves,
crushed
-
2 red or green
chilies, finely chopped
-
1 Tbs. soft brown
sugar
-
8 chicken pieces
-
3 Tbs. dark soy
sauce
-
3 Tbs. wine
vinegar
-
2 Tbs. water
-
1/2 tsp. salt

6-8
Method:
-
Heat the oil in a deep
frying-pan. When it is hot, add the onions,
garlic and chilies and fry for 5 minutes,
stirring occasionally.

Stir in the sugar and fry until
the onions are golden brown. Add the chicken
pieces and fry for 8 minutes, turning
frequently, or until they are deeply browned.

Stir in the remaining ingredients
and bring to the boil. Cover, reduce the heat to
low and simmer for 15 minutes.

Uncover the pan, increase the
heat to moderate and cook the chicken for 25 to
30 minutes, or until it is cooked through. Serve
at once.
