Asian Seafood Recipes - Malaysian Spiced Plaice (Flounder)  Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup dark soy sauce

  • 2 Tbs. soft brown sugar

  • 1 tsp. hot chili powder

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 4 flounder, cleaned, gutted and prepared for cooking

  • 2 Tbs. butter

  • juice of 1 lemon

Serves 4

Method:

  1. Combine the soy sauce, sugar, chili powder and garlic together. Put the fish in a shallow dish and pour over the soy sauce mixture. Cover and set aside for 1 hour, basting occasionally.

  2. Preheat the grill (broiler) to high. Arrange the fish on the rack of the grill (broiler) and grill (broil) the fish, turning them once, for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the flesh flakes easily, basting occasionally with the marinade.

  3. Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Stir in the lemon juice and remove from the heat.

  4. Carefully transfer the fish to individual plates and discard the remaining marinade.

  5. Pour the melted butter mixture over the fish and serve at once.
