Chinese Recipes - Braised Chinese Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients

  • 400 g (14 oz) Chinese cabbage

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup (100 cc) soup stock

  • 1 clove ginger

  • 2 dried mushrooms

  • shrimps

  • 2 slices ham

  • 2 tablespoons oil

  • 1/2 cup soup stock

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine

  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch

4 servings


Method:

  1. Cut Chinese cabbage into 2 X 6 cm (1-inch x 2-inch) pieces. Slice ginger and mushroom. Cut ham in 8 pieces. Soak shrimp in hot water.

  2. Heat oil. Fry cabbage gently. Add salt and soup.

  3. Remove cabbage when they look transparent and drain.

  4. Rinse pan. Heat 2 tablespoons oil. Sauté mushroom, ginger, ham and shrimp. Add cabbage.

  5. Add 1/2 cup soup and seasoning. Simmer for a while. Remove cabbage, ham, mushroom and shrimp to serving platter. Thicken soup with starch mixed with water.

  6. Arrange cabbage on platter garnir with mushroom, ham and shrimp. Top with gravy.
