Chinese Recipes - Braised Meat Ball Recipe

Ingredients

  • 400 g (14 oz) ground pork

  • 1/2 talk green onion (chopped)

  • dash of ginger juice

  • 5 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • dash of monosodium glutamate (MGS)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • oil for frying

  • 400 g (14 oz) Chinese cabbage

  • 4 tablespoons oil

  • 1 cup (200 cc) soup stock

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cooking wine

4 servings


Method:

  1. Mix ground pork with green onion, ginger juice, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp wine, salt and MSG. Add egg. Mix and add cornstarch. Mix well.

  2. Form into 4 large patties. Fry in 190° (480°F) oil till golden. Cut cabbage into 5X3 cm (2 X 1 1/4inch) pieces.

  3. Heat 4 tablespoon oil. Sauté cabbage. Add in soup stock, 4 tbsp soy sauce, sugar, 1 tsp wine and MSG. Place meat over cabbage and simmer for 1 hour.
