Chinese Recipes - Prawns in Chili Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 prawns

  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1/2 tablespoon cooking wine

  • 1 tablespoon ginger (chopped)

  • 1/2 stalk green onion (chopped)

  • 1 tablespoon garlic (chopped)

  • 3 chili peppers

  • 5-6 tablespoons oil

  • 5 tablespoons ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine

  • dash of monosodium glutamate (MSG)

4 servings


Method:

  1. Wash prawns. Cut off tail end to drain. Remove legs.

  2. Slit backs. Remove black veins. Cut each into 3 sections.

  3. Marinate in soy sauce and wine.

  4. Heat 4-5 tablespoons oil. Fry prawns till skin turns pink. Set aside.

  5. Add remaining oil. Fry ginger, green onion, garlic and peppers. Add seasonings.

  6. Return fried prawns to pan. Mix well. Serve while hot.
