Dim Sum and Snacks Recipes - Steamed Rice Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice

  • 500 g pork mince

  • 4 spring onions, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon chopped water chestnuts

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

  • 2 teaspoons sweet chili sauce

  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed

  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

  • 1 tablespoon salt


Method:

  1. Soak the rice in cold water for 30 minutes. Drain well.

  2. Combine the mince, spring onions, water chestnuts, sauces, garlic, ginger and salt in a bowl and roll into walnut-sized balls. Coat each ball in rice.

  3. Put the rice balls, well spaced, in a single layer in steamer. (Cook in batches, if necessary.) Cover and place over a pan of simmering water for 25-30 minutes or until rice is tender and balls are cooked through. Serve with dipping sauce.
