Asian Meats Recipes - Indonesian Bali-Style Beef
(Daging Bumbu Bali) Recipe
Ingredients

1lb. (500 g.) beef
(cut into slices)
-
4 tablespoons cooking
oil
-
1-inch (2.5-cm.) piece laos/galangal
-
a few daun salam/2 bay
leaves
-
a few daun jeruk purut/curly
lime leaves
-
salt & pepper to taste
-
1-2 teaspoons kicap
asin/light soy sauce
-
1 1/2 dessertspoons tamarind
paste, 1/2 cup water, mixed & strained to
extract juice
Ground Ingredients:
Serves 4
Method:

Heat oil. Stir-fry ground ingredients, galangal and
all the leaves.

Add meat and coat well. Cook
covered over low heat for 10-15 minutes.

Add a
little water, seasoning, soy sauce and tamarind
juice. Simmer till gravy is thick and oily at the
surface.
-
Remove from flame. Discard galangal and
leaves.
-
Serve hot with boiled white rice and other
dishes.
