Bandung Noodles (Mee Bandung) Recipe
Ingredients
-
5 cups stock (seasoned
to taste)
-
salt & pepper to taste
-
1/2 lb. (250 g.) steak
(seasoned to taste)
-
2 tablespoons cooking oil
-
6 cloves garlic
-
1 slice ginger root
pounded
-
1/2 lb. (250 g.) large
prawns (discard heads; wash in salted water)
-
1/4 lb. (125 g.) kubis/cabbage
(shredded)
-
3 oz. (90 g.) sawi/mustard
greens (chopped)
-
1 lb. (500 g.) mee kuning/fresh
yellow noodles
Seasoning
Ingredients:
-
1 cup tomato sauce
-
2 tablespoons vinegar
-
1 dessertspoon
corn-flour blended with 2 dessertspoons water
-
2 tablespoons chili
sauce
-
2 tablespoons kicap
asin/light soy sauce
-
1 tablespoon kicap
manis/dark soy sauce
Serves 4-6
Method:
-
Bring stock to the boil and add meat. Simmer till meat
is tender.

Strain and reserve stock. Slice meat into
small, thin pieces. Season with salt and pepper and keep
aside.

Heat oil. Fry pounded-paste till golden. Add
stock and bring to the boil.

Add sliced meat, prawns,
vegetables and seasoning ingredients. Stir on high flame
for 2 minutes. Simmer till gravy is thick.

Add
noodles. Stir till all the ingredients are cooked. Dish
up into individual bowls.

Garnish as desired and
serve hot.
