Asian Rice, Noodles and Snacks Recipes - Indonesian-Chinese Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng Cara China) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice (washed, drained & cooked)

  • 3 tablespoons lard

  • 10 shallots (sliced)

  • 6 oz. (185 g.) pork (chopped)

  • 2 oz. (60 g.) ham (sliced in strips)

  • 4 oz. (125 g.) green peas

  • salt & pepper to taste

  • 2 eggs (made into omelet, rolled & shredded)

  • 2 oz. (60 g.) spring onions (sliced)

Sauce:

  • 1 teaspoon chili sauce

  • 5 dessertspoons kicap asin/light soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce

Serves 3-4


Method:

  1. Loosen rice-grains with a fork. Keep aside.

  2. Heat lard and fry shallots till golden brown.

  3. Add the meats, stirring 2 minutes on high heat.

  4. Reduce heat. Add sauce mixture, rice and peas. Mix well.

  5. Season to taste. Continue stirring till well fried.

  6. Remove from flame. Garnish with remaining ingredients and serve hot.
