Asian Rice, Noodles and Snacks Recipes - Indonesian Fried Rice (Nasi Goreng) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 cups cooked rice

  • 1/4 cup cooking oil

  • 1/4 lb. (125 g.) rump-steak (sliced into small pieces) salt to taste

Pounded Ingredients:

  • 8 shallots

  • 4 cloves garlic

  • 6 red chilies

  • a pinch of terasi/dried shrimp paste

Garnishing Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. (250 g.) large prawns (deveined & fried)

  • 2 eggs (made into omelet, rolled & shredded)

  • 2 tablespoons fried onion flakes

  • 1 large cucumber (scored & sliced)

Serves 3-4


Method:

  1. Heat oil. Stir-fry pounded mixture till golden.

  2. Add meat and brown lightly, then add rice. Mix. well.

  3. Add salt to taste. Stir-fry till meat is tender and rice is well-heated through.

  4. Remove from flame. Dish up and garnish. Serve hot.
