Asian Sweets and Cakes Recipes - Indonesian Banana Crisps (Kerepek Pisang) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 half-ripe pisang tandok/firm bananas (thinly sliced)

  • cooking oil for deep-frying

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups water

  • 2 2-inch (5-cm.) kayu manis/cinnamon sticks

Serves 8


Method:

  1. Heat oil on high flame. Deep-fry banana slices till golden and crisp.

  2. Put sugar in a clean pan. Add water and cinnamon.

  3. Heat on high flame, stirring till sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil.

  4. Add banana-crisps. Stir till well coated. Remove from flame and discard cinnamon.

  5. Cool well before storing in an airtight container.
