Coconut Balls
(Kuih Ongol Ongol) Recipe
Ingredients
-
1 cup water (for
syrup)
-
2 cups brown sugar
-
6 daun pandan/Screw pine
leaves
-
1 cup corn flour blended
with 1 cup water
-
1 coconut (grate
white part only)
-
a pinch of
salt
Serves 6
Method:
-
In a heavy pan, heat
water over medium flame. Stir in sugar, till
dissolved. Strain syrup.

Add Screw pine leaves and
bring to the boil. Reduce flame to low.

Add the corn-flour mixture, stirring vigorously. Continue
stirring till cooked and thickened. Remove from
flame and discard leaves.

Spoon portions of the
cooked mixture onto the coconut. Roll in the coconut
till well coated. Serve.
