Asian Sweets and Cakes Recipes - Indonesian Stewed Fruit (Syem Buah Buahan) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pineapples (cleaned, cut into pieces & shaped into ovals)

  • 1lb. (500 g.) kedondong/local hog-plum (peeled)

  • 1/2 lb. (250 g.) sugar

  • 5 2.inch. (5-cm.) kayu manis/cinnamon sticks

  • water to cover

Serves 8


Method:

  1.  Mix together all the ingredients in a heavy saucepan.

  2. Bring to the boil over medium flame. Reduce heat.

  3. Allow to simmer slowly for 1 1/2 hours. Remove from flame.

  4. Let stand to cool, then bottle. 4. Serve with chilled coconut cream.
