Braised Bean-curd Balls (Semur Tahu) Recipe
Ingredients

4 cakes white tabu/bean-curd
(mashed & sieved)

1 egg-white
-
1 1/2 cups cooking oil
-
3 tablespoons
margarine
-
2 small carrots
(sliced)
-
1lb. (500 g.) local
tomatoes (cubed)

1/2 cup sliced bamboo
shoots
-
1 cup stock
-
1 crab (steamed &
shelled)
-
1/2 cup green peas
-
salt & pepper to taste
Sauce Ingredients:
(blended)
-
6 fl. oz. (180 ml.)
water
-
1 tablespoon kicap
asin/light soy sauce
-
1 teaspoon kicap manis/dark
soy sauce blended
-
3 dessertspoons oyster
sauce
-
1 teaspoon sesame oil
-
2 dessertspoons
corn-flour
Serves 4-6
Method:
-
Mix mashed bean-curd with egg-white and season with
salt to taste.

Heat oil and fry bean-curd mixture
by teaspoonfuls, to obtain golden balls. Drain and
keep aside.

Heat margarine on high flame. Fry
carrots, tomatoes and bamboo shoots, 2 minutes. Add
stock and simmer till vegetables are tender.

Add
crab meat, bean-curd balls and peas. Add sauce
ingredients and stir till thickened.

Adjust
seasoning. Remove from flame. Serve hot with boiled
white rice.
