(Sayur Kacang Hijau) Recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. (250 g.) kacang
hijau/green gram (washed & drained)
-
3 3/4 cups boiling water
-
1 tablespoon cooking
oil
-
1 big onion (sliced)
-
1/2 lb. (250 g.)
carrots (scraped & sliced)
-
1/4 lb. (125 g.)
potatoes (peeled & sliced)
-
salt to taste
-
1/2 lb. (250 g.)
tomatoes (cut into wedges)
-
3 oz. (90 g.) daun
sup/Chinese celery (sliced)
-
2 oz. (60 g.) spring
onions (sliced)
Ground Ingredients:
-
6 shallots
-
3 cloves garlic
-
1 slice ginger root
-
2
green chilies
-
2 red chilies
Serves 4-6
Method:
-
Boil green gram in the water till tender. Keep
aside.
-
Heat oil and stir-fry onion and ground
ingredients till aromatic.
-
Add boiled green gram,
including its liquid. Bring to the boil.
-
Add
carrots and potatoes. Cook till tender.
-
Season to
taste. Add remaining ingredients and remove from
flame.
-
Serve hot with boiled white rice or bread.
