Ingredients

12 quails' eggs or
4 hens' eggs
-
1 red chili
-
3 shallots
-
2 cloves garlic
-
1 teaspoon petis
-
1 piece kund,
about 2 cm/3/4 in long
-
1 piece galangal root, about 3 cm/1
1/4 in
long
-
2 cups coconut
milk
-
1-2 tablespoons
tamarind water salt
-
pinch of sugar
-
oil
Method:
-
Boil the quails' eggs for 2-3 minutes (hens' eggs
for 8-9 minutes). Shell the eggs and fry half of
them in oil until light brown.

Cut the
chilies into
thin strips, peel the shallots and garlic, pound
into a paste and fry together with crab paste (petis)
in 2 tablespoons of oil.

Crush the kunci and
galangal root (peeled). Add together with the
coconut milk, tamarind water, salt and sugar. Simmer
over a low heat for 5 minutes.

Finally add the
quails' eggs and simmer briefly.
