Indonesian Recipes (Bali, Java) - Sambal Trasi Recipe

Ingredients

  • 200 g/7 oz red and green chilies

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 3 doves garlic

  • 1 tablespoon trasi (shrimp paste)

  • juice of 1 lemon or lime

Serves 4


Method:

  1. Peel the cloves of garlic and puree all the ingredients.

Note: Indonesians often eat Sambal trasi with dried salt fish, and in fishing villages this is a traditional poor man's dish. It is delicious served with fried tofu or tempe.
