Indonesian Recipes (Bali, Java) - Tomato Sambal Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 2 tomatoes

  • 2-3 red onions

  • 3 kaffir lime leaves

  • 3 tablespoons Sambal trasi

Serves 4


Method:

  1. Peel the garlic and chop finely. Cut the tomatoes into fairly small cubes.

  2. Peel the onions and cut into thin slices. Cut the kaftir lime leaves into wafer-thin strips.

  3. Add the sambal trasi and stir well.

Note: Instead of being served cold, this sambal may also be cooked in groundnut or palm oil. If pieces of meat, fish or crab are added it makes a complete dish.
