Asian Salad Recipes - Burma
Green Papaya Salad (Thinnbaw-Thee Thoke) Recipe
Ingredients
For the dressing:

2 tablespoons
groundnut oil
-
3 garlic cloves,
thinly sliced
-
1 heaped tablespoon
small dried shrimp
-
4 small dried
chilies, roughly
chopped
-
2 tablespoons fish sauce
-
2 teaspoons tamarind
water
-
2 teaspoons sugar
-
1 heaped tablespoon
ground roast peanuts
Serves

Method
-
Arrange the papaya shreds in a salad bowl and set
aside.
-
Prepare the dressing: heat the oil in a wok
or frying pan and fry the garlic until golden-brown.
Remove and place in the salad bowl. Then fry the
dried shrimp in the same way, remove and place in
the salad bowl. Finally fry the chilies, remove and
place in the salad bowl with all the remaining oil
in the pan.

Add the fish sauce, tamarind water,
sugar and ground peanuts to the salad
bowl. Mix well and serve.
