Asian Salad Recipes - Cambodia White Cabbage with Prawn Salad (Yoam Sapai Braadok Gia Muay Bongkia) Recipe

Ingredients

  • 175g (6oz) white cabbage, finely shredded

  • 8 peeled cooked prawns

  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk

  • 1 heaped tablespoon crisp-fried shallots

For the dressing:

  • 4 small red shallots

  • 3 large garlic cloves

  • 2 large dried chilies, roughly chopped

  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce

  • 2 level teaspoons sugar

  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

Serves 4


Method:

  1. Place the cabbage and prawns in a bowl and set aside.

  2. Prepare the dressing: preheat a hot grill. Wrap the shallots, garlic and chilies in foil and grill the parcel for 1 minute on each side. Turn the contents of the foil parcel into a mortar and pound to a paste. Stir in the remaining dressing ingredients, mix well and pour over the salad. Mix well again.

  3. Just before serving, stir in the coconut milk and fried shallots, turn out on to a plate and serve.
