Grilled Beef Salad (Getchok) Recipe
Ingredients
1 cucumber, thinly
sliced
1 onion, cut into thin
wedges
2 large tomatoes, cut
into thin wedges
225g (8oz) fillet steak
For the dressing:
2 tablespoons fish
sauce
2 tablespoons lime
juice
2 small red
chilies,
finely chopped
2 teaspoons sugar
for the garnish
1 heaped tablespoon
finely chopped mint leaves
1 heaped tablespoon
crisp-fried shallot
Serves 4
Method
Preheat a hot grill. Arrange the cucumber, onion and
tomato in a salad bowl and set aside.
Make the dressing
by mixing together all the ingredients in a small bowl,
stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
Grill
the steak to taste (about 3 - 5 minutes on each side for
medium-rare). When cool enough to handle, slice it
thinly into bite-sized pieces, being sure to reserve any
juices.
Place the steak on the salad with any juices,
add the dressing and stir well.
